Chelation therapy introduces one of a number of synthetic amino acids into the bloodstream to remove heavy metals from the body and calcium plaque buildup from the blood vessels.  This procedure is indicated during mercury removal from the teeth, exposure to heavy metals and to reverse/prevent cardiovascular disease.

After a special workup, chelation therapy is administered by several sessions of  intravenous infusions which take 2 to 4 hours each.
